2019 Berline International Film Festival (Berlinale) has announced the finalized list of competitors.

The five new titles added to the list of the festival’s final attendees at the Competition Films section have been ‘Farewell to the Night’ by André Téchiné, ‘Amazing Grace’ by Alan Elliott, Nadav Lapid’s ‘Synonyms’, Adam McKay’s ‘Vice’ and ‘One Second’ by Zhang Yimou.

Berlinale had previously published eighteen other selected films, including ‘The Ground beneath My Feet’ by Marie Kreutzer, ‘So Long, My Son’ by Wang Xiaoshuai, ‘Elisa & Marcela’ by Isabel Coixet, Fatih Akin’s ‘The Golden Glove’, ‘God Exists, Her Name is Petrunya’ by Teona Strugar, François Ozon’s ‘By the Grace of God’, ‘I Was at Home, But’ by Angela Schanelec,  ‘The Kindness of Strangers’ by Lone Scherfig, ‘A Tale of Three Sisters’ by Emin Alper, Wagner Moura’s ‘Marighella’, ‘Mr. Jones’ by Agnieszka Holland, ‘Öndög’ by Wang Quan'an, Yuval Adler’s ‘The Operative’, Claudio Giovannesi’s ‘Piranhas’, ‘Ghost Town Anthology’ by Denis Côté, ‘System Crasher’ by Nora Fingscheidt, ‘Out Stealing Horses’ by Hans Petter Moland and ‘Varda by Agnès’ by Agnès Varda.

The official website for the festival publishes the list announcing some of the films as out of competition. The flicks are ‘Farewell to the Night’, ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘Vice’, ‘Marighella’ and ‘Varda by Agnès’.

This year, seven of the competing films are realized by female directors. Besides, twenty of the films will have their international premiere here at the festival.

Founded in 1951, the Berlin International Film Festival is one of the world’s leading film events which is held in Germany and celebrated annually in February.
